EASTERN CAPE QUADRANGULAR SPORTS TOURNAMENT – EAST LONDON 2016
The Eastern Cape Triangular Sports Tournament and now the Quadrangular Tournament, due to the inclusion of the Cape Recife School, was held at Baysville in East London on 20 and 21 May. It formed part of Baysville’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
Westview entered teams in the U/18 Soccer, Netball and Cross-country. The soccer team did extremely well in becoming the overall winner and brought the soccer trophy home.
The first game on Friday was against Baysville, we drew one all. The goal was scored by
Sherwin Eckhard and the Man of the match was the goal keeper, Siphesihle Mbata, with his many spectacular saves.
The second game was on Saturday against Bergsig-we managed a six one victory. Ridley Liberty scored 2 and Sherwin Eckhard, Emmanuel Smith, Mangaliso Makana and Siphesihle Mbata each scored 1 goal.
In the third game we beat Cape Recife 3-0. Our top goal scorer was Ridley Liberty with 3 goals in total.
A soccer team was selected to represent the Eastern Cape at the Winter Games in Durban from the 10th to 16 July. Four Westview players were chosen for this event.
They are, Ridley Liberty, Isaak Gentle, Sherwin Eckhard and Siphesihle Mbata.
All the boys had a great sporting weekend and their team spirit and comradery was at an all time high.

Upon arrival in East London, we played our first match against Cape Receife (Friday – 20th May 2016). Our other matches followed on the Saturday. The scores are as follows:
The tournament was well organised and the netball girls played their hearts out. We won the match against Cape Receife, but sadly lost against Bergsig and Baysville.
Good news…….. three of our girls, Eurika Dolph, Kaylene Sampson and Moesha Grootboom, were chosen for a selected team which will be taking part in the Winter Games in July, in Durban.
