Westview’s Got Talent Our show was on Friday, and it was an absolute blast! Our learners showcased incredible talent and bravery, putting on an amazing show. A huge congratulations to
Westview School – Port Elizabeth

Before 18 January 1961, learners
with special educational needs in Port Elizabeth completed their education at various primary schools. Difficult circumstances,
poor facilities and lack of
specialised equipment necessitated the establishment of a separate
school which was named Westview Special Secondary School. The initial school building housed only 240
learners and fifteen educators.
Today we have 700 learners and 51 educators.
Today we have 700 learners and 51 educators. We have 11 technical subjects and adequate academic classes.
We are forever increasing our learner enrollment while striving to expand our programmes. This inevitability means that our growth exceeds the funding we receive. We could therefor always use more help.

Dear Parent/Guardian
It is with great pride and commitment that I welcome you to Westview Special School, a School of Skill located in the beautiful province of the Eastern Cape. I am honoured to lead a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about unlocking the potential of every learner entrusted to our care.
We follow the Occupational Curriculum which is purposefully designed to integrate foundational academic support with skills training, within the technical occupational stream. Our electives include but are not limited to, skills such as Hospitality, Woodworking & Timber, Welding and Agriculture which allow learners to explore their interests while gaining real-world skills. Through this alternative pathway, we strive to foster independence, confidence, and long-term employability. We believe that every learner has value and a role to play in society and we aim to equip learners, not only with essential life skills but also with industry-relevant competencies that prepare them for the world of work.
I invite you to explore our website, learn more about our school, and share in the journey of transformation that takes place here every day. Whether you are a parent to a prospective learner, educator, or community member, your support and involvement are vital in helping us shape a more inclusive and empowered society.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we are building futures—one skill, one learner at a time.
Warm regards
Mrs Z. Gobodo
